There is nobody connected with basketball who does not remember where they were when the news came that Kobe Bryant had died in a helicopter accident.
The former NBA legend was killed along with his daughter and everyone on board, leading to an immense outpouring of emotion from not just the basketball world but the entire sporting world.
There is no denying that Bryant was the inspiration for the current set of NBA stars and that is the case for Stephen Curry, easily one of the biggest names in the sport right now.
They are not the same when it comes to their style of play, but they have the same mentality when they are on the court. Having met Bryant a number of times, Curry was one of the people most affected by his death.
Curry recently appeared on the BigBoyTV, and he explained that he was in training with the Golden State Warriors when he found out that Bryant had been killed. The practice had to be stopped so players could be with their families.
"Once it was acknowledged that it actually happened, like you obviously, your heart melts, your tears are flowing, and it grounds you. And you appreciate life man. Because we're all just out there hooping having a good time and you realize somebody who ushered in a new generation of basketball left us way too early and obviously his daughter as well and everybody else on the helicopter," Curry said.
Kobe Bryant made 18 All-Star appearances and has won the All-Star MVP award a record four times alongside the legendary Bob Pettit. In honor of Bryant, the league changed the name of the All-Star MVP award to The Kobe Bryant Trophy last year.
